Draft Room Daily: The Fake 49er, Tutu's Return and Cutdown-Day Noise
- Podcaster Pete
A man allegedly spent years telling women he played wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. He had the helmet, team gear, practice videos, luxury cars, fake account balances, and a social profile convincing enough that search engines and AI sometimes listed him as an actual player.
- Fantasy Frank
Zero career catches. Strong search ranking.
- Podcaster Pete
Federal prosecutors say Daejon Love and Taylor Jamie Chan used that story as part of a romance-and-investment scheme involving 26 identified victims and about 1.3 million dollars. Both were arrested Monday in Boise and charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. Those charges are accusations, not convictions.
- Fantasy Frank
And the jokes online were about the fake football career, not the people who lost money.
- Podcaster Pete
Online, the jokes all landed on the same place. Not the victims. The career. A receiver with no catches, no targets, and no games.
- Fantasy Frank
Hard to beat zero targets allowed.
- Podcaster Pete
I'm Pete.
- Fantasy Frank
Frank.
- Podcaster Pete
This is Draft Room Daily from Gamedai. Real report first, fantasy decision second, and no headline gets read twice. We've also got a better way to set your draft order than trusting your commissioner with a hat.
- Fantasy Frank
He knows what he did.
- Podcaster Pete
Start with the real fantasy transaction. The Rams brought Tutu Atwell back from Miami, sending running back Jarquez Hunter to the Dolphins. The trade is pending physicals.
- Fantasy Frank
Atwell spent his first five seasons with the Rams, left in March, and made it back before Labor Day. That's a short breakup.
- Podcaster Pete
The timing started immediate speculation about Puka Nacua and a possible league suspension.
- Fantasy Frank
Sean McVay said the trade had nothing to do with that. So don't lower Nacua because of a theory the coach directly denied. If the league issues discipline, react to the discipline.
- Podcaster Pete
Atwell caught six passes for 192 yards and one touchdown in ten games last season. His familiarity with McVay's offense helps his case for a role. It doesn't hand him weekly fantasy value.
- Fantasy Frank
Watch him. Don't reach for him.
- Podcaster Pete
Tua Tagovailoa returned to Hard Rock Stadium wearing a Falcons uniform and heard mostly boos from a sparse Miami crowd.
- Fantasy Frank
Crowd volume, low. Emotional history, high.
- Podcaster Pete
Tua completed seven of eight passes for 95 yards, led Atlanta's opening touchdown drive, and lost a fumble. The Falcons won 17 to 12.
- Fantasy Frank
That performance tells us more than the boos. He was efficient, he made one costly mistake, and Atlanta still hasn't named its Week One starter. Michael Penix Junior is back in team work, so the quarterback decision remains open.
- Podcaster Pete
Fantasy call?
- Fantasy Frank
Watch in superflex. In a normal one-quarterback league, wait.
- Podcaster Pete
Another headline said Fernando Mendoza might begin his Raiders career as the third-string quarterback.
- Fantasy Frank
The Raiders' published depth chart on August 24 listed Kirk Cousins first, Mendoza second, and Aidan O'Connell third.
- Podcaster Pete
Klint Kubiak still hasn't named a regular-season starter after the preseason finale. Cousins looked steadier. Mendoza finished seven of fourteen for 57 yards and threw an early interception, although Kubiak put blame on the receiver.
- Fantasy Frank
The actual story is already interesting. Nobody needed to demote the first overall pick an extra spot for drama.
- Podcaster Pete
Sunday is cutdown day. Every NFL team has to reach 53 players by 6 p.m. Eastern. Miami is going from 90 to 53.
- Fantasy Frank
Sunday evening is not the villain. That sentence was the villain.
- Podcaster Pete
Miami can keep reshaping the bottom of the roster after cuts. Arizona could be active too. Cardinals team writer Darren Urban expects the club to lean into the wire, and Arizona owns the third claim position.
- Fantasy Frank
That's a forecast, not a transaction. A team being active on waivers does not tell you which fantasy player to add. Wait for the name, the role, and the player who loses work.
- Podcaster Pete
Waiver priority is team news. It isn't fantasy advice by itself.
- Podcaster Pete
Tony Romo is facing three added citations tied to his July arrest in Wisconsin: possessing open intoxicants in a vehicle, unsafe passing on the right, and first-offense operating while intoxicated. He already faced a citation for refusing an intoxication test.
- Fantasy Frank
Romo remains on leave from CBS, and J.J. Watt is filling his seat on the lead crew. A spokesperson said Romo accepts responsibility and is working with authorities. No punchline needed.
- Podcaster Pete
Al Michaels supplied the booth comedy. He was back on Prime Video for Browns-Patriots when a virtual measurement dragged on. Michaels said they could have run three commercials during the delay.
- Fantasy Frank
An announcer watching a stoppage and calculating the missing ad inventory. Veteran instincts.
- Podcaster Pete
Plenty of fans agreed with him about the delay.
- Fantasy Frank
He has been calling games since before that system existed. He is allowed an opinion on it.
- Podcaster Pete
One college note. Lane Kiffin's Sam Leavitt and NIL item was an interview, not breaking news. Kiffin praised Leavitt's preparation and leadership, and said money in college football has sped up coaching changes and expectations.
- Fantasy Frank
Good note for college and dynasty listeners. It didn't belong in an NFL waiver headline.
- Podcaster Pete
Final board. Atwell is a watch, not a reach. The trade alone does not change Puka Nacua's price. Tua's job remains unsettled. Mendoza was listed second, not third. Arizona and Miami may work the wire, but you wait for actual claims before changing your roster.
- Fantasy Frank
And Daejon Love is not an eligible waiver target.

- Fantasy Frank
Anything beats the commissioner saying the names came out of a hat, then somehow landing the first pick.
- Podcaster Pete
Enter your managers or import a Sleeper league, run the reveal, and send the replay to the group chat. The draft games are free and don't require an account.
- Fantasy Frank
Run the game. Then ask Scout what to do with the pick.
