Sixteen hundred rushing yards at 5.2 a carry is the best efficiency in this group, and he did it while on the field for barely more than half of Buffalo's snaps. That is the tension in his profile. The efficiency is outstanding and the role is not: 57 percent snap share and 33 receptions means he leaves the field on obvious passing downs and gives you almost nothing in the game scripts where Buffalo is chasing. In full PPR that costs him real points against backs with similar rushing lines.
The other thing working against him is the quarterback. Josh Allen took 14 rushing touchdowns in 2025, and every one of those is a goal-line carry that did not go to Cook. Twelve rushing scores is a good number, and it exists despite the best short-yardage competition any back in the league faces rather than because of an easy path to the end zone. For 2026 Buffalo's running-back schedule rates a 2 out of 5, among the tougher ones, with a week 7 bye. He is a fine second-round back whose ceiling is capped by things outside his control, and that is a reasonable thing to pay for as long as you are not paying first-round prices.
Buffalo takes him off the field on passing downs. Fifty-seven percent is the mark of a back used in a defined early-down role, and it is why 33 receptions sits next to 309 carries. The rushing efficiency is what makes the limited role productive anyway.
Considerably. Allen ran for 14 touchdowns in 2025, and short-yardage carries are close to a zero-sum pool. Cook's 12 scores came in spite of that competition. On most teams the same rushing line would produce three or four more.
A discount rather than a fade. Thirty-three catches is a real hole in full PPR, worth 40 or more points against the receiving backs drafted near him. In half-PPR and standard the gap narrows and his rushing efficiency does most of the work.
